What else can be said about a Pixar film, other than the fact that you will be entertained, amazed, and moved. Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Up, Ratatouille, the list goes on and on (and continues to grow every year!). But of all the Pixar movies, Finding Nemo holds a special place in my heart.
At its core, its a Father / Son story about growing up and letting go. When I first watched it I was freshly out of college and independent...ready to take on the world in NYC. Little did I realize how difficult being on my own would be. This movie touched on every aspect I was feeling about missing my family and the comfort of the world I left behind. It also demonstrated the lengths of what a father would do for his son; something that I would see first hand from MY dad a few short months later at a particularly rough time of my life.
Every time I watch this movie, I'm captivated by the colors, entertained by the vivid personalities, and touched to the core by the emotions shared between father and son. And now that I'm a father for a second time, I have no doubt the lens through which I view this classic will continue to change as I relate to the fact I would go to the ends of the earth for my two boys.
